    COACHING PHILOSOPHY
When coaching, Kevin recognizes and understands that children play to have fun and they must be encouraged to have confidence in themselves. He  makes every attempt to create a safe, fun, and disciplined environment for all participants while embracing concepts such as ‘Fair Play’ and the idea that some rep hockey programs are introductory rep programs (i.e. Manitoulin Panthers). While developing players in a fashion that encourages and motivates them to be better then they are, by de-emphasizing winning and focusing on skill development, through targeted learning sessions (i.e. dry land or on-ice sessions) and parent involvement, as a Head Coach, he supports the development of players by supporting them through an organized, non-threatening, reasonable approach to coaching the game. With the main goal being to help the players realize their potential and help them become good teammates and citizens by being respectful and courteous towards themselves and others with the hopes the players end up enjoying sport for life, while developing into hard working, well-rounded, courteous individuals, hockey players, and team mates.

    Hockey/Coaching Experience

Kevin has previously played most of his hockey at the Jr. B level and has participated on several teams as a coach at various levels while maintaining and obtaining various Hockey Canada certifications to better serve the players. He also has years of experience working at hockey schools/clinics and running off-ice conditioning and skills development sessions. In 2014, he played an integral role in reintroducing the Novice program with the Manitoulin Panthers and coached that program for 2 years. He has held various team positions within hockey including: Trainer, Assistant Coach, Head Coach, and Manager. He has also held other hockey positions such as President of a Jr. A team, Director of Tecchnical Development, Director of Player/Coach Development, and Association Vice-President. He is committed to improving his skills/knowledge and is  participating in the 2016 Hockey Canada U15 Development program through the NOHA/OHL/OHF and is also now enrolled in a General Manager and Scouting course, all to better and fully understand the game to help the kids.
